  1. Photography Projects

365 Project - The Other Side of the Lens.

Nervously, and with a lot of prayer, I began this project January 7, 2012. I joined up with a group of strangers on http://www.mavenforums.com and for an entire year, we watched people come and go, got to know each others families, and marveled at each other's photos. It was an incredible experience and did so much for me that I wasn't expecting. It ended up being an expression of self like I'd never done before. 367 photos later, my perspective on self portraits, the internet, and photography was changed. I had made new friends all over the world, and even met with some of them in person. Every photo has a story, and a memory, and when I look through them I feel a deep satisfaction. Many thanks to Michael for putting for the effort to get us all shooting self portraits, and many thanks to all my friends who motivated me for an entire year! It's made a world of difference. With your positivity and motivation, you've inspired me and built confidence in me, and I know that as a photographer I'll never be the same. Below, the photos are the visible fruits of our labors and prayers, but the real benefit only I really know. Thank you, and enjoy!

Motorcycle lesson with Mom. Thanks Momma!

    November 14, 2012. Day 313.

Mom got this super cool micoscope camera. Which, when she told me what she'd ordered, immediately made me think of my friend Allison. We tried taking pictures of our eyes with it, but between struggling to hold ourselves and it still, and struggling to focus, the photos didn't really work out. But anyway, here's my hair very close. It seems to be reflecting lots of pink? :O

Oh, Red Rocks. I love it. It's like visiting an old friend.

I drove out into the desert to just visit, and catch the evening sunset if possible, when I saw that I was missing the light. I ended up going up to the park gate anyway, only to find out that I needed cash or check. I turned to exit, and jumped out at the nearby parking lot, rushing out to photograph the sunset - because even though the initial light had moved on, the clouds nearer the mountains were drenched in light, which I didn't expect. I found my finger on the shutter - only to see the words 'no cf' flash on my camera. I knew exactly what I'd done - left it at home in the card reader! I panicked, and was about to text John about the tragedy, when I realized that in the midst of all my carelessness I had an extra cf card in my pocket, and I thereby managed to capture the golden hour.
Sometimes I wonder how far in advance God plans these things just so I can be blessed.
